I think it's a great idea and it does work well..........in the early 70's (after migrating to Australia) I'd collected a heap of Scottish Calendars, cut the images up and pasted them on a wall as a feature!

This would have been appreciated back then :))))))))))))))))

Yes, please do come down and say Hi! It should be a fun couple of days, and Mister Maker will be making his famous "one minute makes".

Hope to see you there.

Absolutely agree with the majority of the sentiments expressed here. Although new to the site, I have seen other sites where the rating system was badly abused. In many cases these were eventually withdrawn and unfortunately not before many of the photographers and artists had also left.
Personally I can do without any ratings - a comment says much more as it expresses the opinions of each of us and is "up front". If you like it say so and if you don't - also say so - BUT qualify it for the benefit of all of us.
I like art style manipulation of photographs (my own) and like to think I'm not bad at it, but some of the other styles and marvellous work I see here, I doubt I would have a clue or indeed the imagination to even attempt them. Well done to you all.
It is great to see them and hopefully we can all learn something along the way.

My 2 cents worth..such a shame for anyone to act so despicably. I for one love to wander through the albums and the creativity is amazing. Encouragement and constructive critism I am sure most would welcome. If there is an easier way to do something and you let me know via the comments I would be rapt. Continued Success to all.......Kez

Hi Vincent, can i reply to you first. I have addressed the question of gallery and picture ratings - and Jo has posted a blog on this - in the forums. As for the competition entries - the images for approval aren't tagged to show where they are going, so ones inappropriate for the competition can't be seen at this stage. However, it isn't acceptable to have them flooding the competition page so i am going through and deleting them this morning. Also, the posters have been reminded not to do this without using the required materials. Anyone who continues to transgress will have their account removed.

Hi Les, this is a function of the magazine world. Work starts on an issue around 8 weeks before it goes on sale, so Jo was still finishing off issue 5 while I started on issue 6.

Jo is the Editor-in-Chief responsible for overall quality on a range of magazines including this one so she will be keeping an eye on it even though i am now tasked with the day-to-day running of the title.

My background is one of creative magazines, photography and photo-editing. I have 23 years of magazine experience, I have written 13 photography books, I was the editor of the Paint Shop Pro Library magazine for a while and I have used every version of PSP since the shareware days of version 4 (the days before layers!).

best wishes,

Duncan

Hi everyone, thank you editors for this magazine. I am having a wonderful time since it came out. A place to show off my photos and get encouragement to try impossible things ! THe rating system is difficult for me as I am such an amateur and find it impossible to criticise other photographers work, so I rate 5 or just look and have a chat with myself. I certainly noticed something had happened to my Gallery and some pictures had strange ratings, but it just made me try harder. So I deleted some of my pictures that had no ratings at all, and it seemed to recover. Thank you again and keep up the good work and I will continue to slave away on my OOB's.

Thank you Jo & Duncan for all of your hard work. I hope I am not speaking out of context but we appreciate your looking into and fixing the rating problem.
I agree with Marty how helpful it would be to be notified of new comments. It gets tough remembering to go back to any certain image to reply.
